About

"Salon of Arts" is a traditional festival organized by the National Palace of Culture (NDK), which celebrated its jubilee 20th edition in 2015. It takes place annually in May and combines various forms and genres of art – music, dance, theater, opera, ballet, cinema, and fine arts. The "Salon" has become a recognizable and anticipated event for the public. Its program offers a good balance of diverse events aimed at different groups of spectators.

The audience of the festival is extremely diverse, just like its program. It includes small children, students, working people with middle to high incomes, and individuals from various professions and interests.

The festival traditionally presents the "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" award for outstanding contribution to culture. The latest recipient was Raina Kabaivanska, and among those honored over the years are: Acad. Svetlin Rusev, Yordan Radichkov, Valeri Petrov, Acad. Anton Donchev, Bogomil Raynov, Prof. Stefan Danailov, Stefan Tsanev, Leda Mileva, Yıldız İbrahimova, "Shurtsite," and others.

The Salon of Arts is typically attended by over 80,000 people on average.
